Genc Beach on the Blue Lagoon (free shuttle service)

At Olu Deniz the beach stretches some 10 kilometres and behind the beach lies the stunning and famous Blue Lagoon, Turkey 's most photographed beach.

The Blue Lagoon of Oludeniz has calm, crystal clear fresh waters that have an incredible turquoise colour making it ideal for a variety of water sports and a very safe place for children to swim. Part of the lagoon is now a protected area and is a national park.

Oludeniz situated in the heart of Lycia, is the ideal centre for visiting it's many antique cities. Xanthos, Letoon, Pinara, Tlos, Sdyma, Myra, and many others. There are arranged excursions to all of these. The many natural wonders in the area attract as much interest as the historical sites. Butterfly Valley, is just 5 km from Oludeniz. Kayakoy - the Ghost Town - an old deserted Greek village is only 10 km from the beach, the Saklikent Gorge at 50 km distance and the 33 km long Patara sands and Akdag summer pastures are among the many sites of natural beauty within striking distance.

Calis Beach

5 km north of Fethiye and accessible via water taxi or mini bus, Calis is a 2km stretch of course sand and pebbles. Facing Fethiye Bay and it's small islands to the west, Calis Beach enjoys a beautiful view and stunning sunset, one of the best in the area.

The area is flat and enjoy cool breezes, so is great in the summer months when the heat of the area is at it's warmest. This also means that it is perfect for water sports, there are a range of sports available, windsurfing and kite surfing being among the most popular.

Parara Beach

In the heart of Lycia Patara is best known for its beach, eighteen kilometres of soft white sand, backed by majestic dunes and in recent years the winner of a "best beach in the world" survey in the Sunday Times.

Evidence of its former glories as the principal port for Lycia and an important Roman town can be seen at the extensive site, still not fully excavated.

Here too stood the Hellenistic oracle of Apollo , thought to rival that at Delphi and a further claim of Patara's fame is as the birthplace of the fourth century St. Nicolas , the original Santa Claus.
Patara beach should not be missed with its gorgeous landscape and great swimming. It is a national park and home to many birds, also the breeding ground of the endangered Loggerhead turtle.

The beach is an 18 kilometre-long strip of sand bordered on its ends by mountains and along its length by sand dunes and the large marshy area which once was the celebrated port of Patara.

Gemiler Beach

Gemiler Beach is small, secluded and un commercialized. If you are staying in nearby Hisaronu it is best reached by bus.

If you prefer a quieter beach away from the hustle and bustle I can recommend Gemiler as few visitors to the surrounding towns know it's there.

Gemiler Beach is just opposite of the St Nicholas Island which is worth visiting for it’s history. There are several simple fish restaurants serving fresh fish dishes. It’s a perfect day tour from Oludeniz; swim, snorkel, eat and snooze.
